Women for Women International was founded in 1993 to help women survivors of war rebuild their lives, their families and communities. The UK office was established in 2006 and has grown a strong and effective supporter base. Our income in 2014 was £3.3 million.
Based in central London, Women for Women International UK is a small but highly dedicated team working together with Women for Women International Headquarters in Washington DC and offices in the eight countries where we work. Our mission is to serve the most marginalised women in countries affected by conflict to help them attain a sustainable level of human dignity.

Call for proposals: Independent final evaluation
Deadline: 16th August 2017
In the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Women for Women International has been working through partners since 2015. So far, we have served more than 1000 women in collaboration with two partner organisations: Warvin Foundation for Women’s Issues (Warvin) and Free Yezidi Foundation (FYF). The project led by Warvin started in January and ended in December in 2016, through which 200 Syrian and 200 Yezidi women in Erbil and Duhok provinces respectively were provided social empowerment, business and leadership training, as well as psychosocial counselling for Yezidi women genocide survivors. In addition, 104 additional Yezidi women in the community were provided with psychosocial counselling and 143 Syrian and Yezidi men (women’s relatives and community leaders) were trained on women’s rights and empowerment, gender-based violence awareness, and prevention as part of men’s engagement activities.
FYF was awarded a grant by Women for Women International in June 2016 to deliver a training to Yezidi women focused on social empowerment and provide psychosocial counselling to 645 women. Their activities included outreach to 900 Yezidi men. By June 2017, FYF had delivered the project to approximately half of the target beneficiaries and aims to complete implementation in December 2017.
Women for Women International has also recently opened our own office in June 2017, aiming to deliver our program directly to vulnerable women rebuilding their lives in KRI.
Purpose of evaluation: We expect the evaluation to inform and upgrade our knowledge of the relevance, efficiency, sustainability and effectiveness of the projects Women for Women International delivered targeting Syrian and Yezidi women in KRI in 2016/17 through the two partner organisations. In addition, we would expect the evaluation to illustrate the achievements, challenges, gaps, and lessons learned for Women for Women International and its KRI partners.
Please submit your proposal by 16 August 2017 to Mandana Hendessi, Director, Syria Response and Iraq, at firstname.lastname@example.org
